Medical Policies
Casts and Crutches – Children in school with casts, crutches, bandages, splints, etc. must have, before admission into class, a doctor’s note explaining the condition and restrictions, the approval of the principal, and release of responsibility signed by a parent.
Emergency Card – At the start of each school year, an emergency card must be filled out for every child and returned to your child’s teacher promptly. Accurate information ensures that the school can always reach a parent in an emergency. Any changes in address and/or telephone numbers must be registered with the office immediately.
Illness, Admission and Re-admission – Please keep your child at home if there is any sign of illness (fever, sore throat, runny nose, etc.) so we can prevent epidemics and maintain a healthy school environment for the children. Students must bring a note for every absence, regardless of the cause. A doctor’s note is required when the absence is due to a communicable disease. When a child has been sent home/absent due to head lice, he/she must go to the school office upon his/her return with a parent (or responsible adult). The child will be readmitted only when it has been confirmed the condition is cleared up.
Medications – Children may never carry any medication (over-the-counter or prescription) with them. All medication must be brought to the school office in the original bottle/package with the prescription on the label and with a doctor’s letter explaining how the medication is to be administered. Medication will be administered in the school office.
